Abstract:

We use a large cosmological hydrodynamical simulation to study the large scale clustering of the lyman alpha forest. We extract the large scale bias and the redshift space distortion parameter \beta from the power spectrum of the lyman alpha forest. We find that both bias and beta evolve strongly with redshift with (bias, beta) = (-0.12,1.4) at z=2 and (bias, beta) = (-0.42,0.94) at z=3.5. We use two different methods to extract bias and beta. We also look at the variation of these parameters as a function of mean flux and conclude with a discussion on these methods.
